Interesting New Book
I am reading a new book titled "The South was Right". It
explores the legality of the South succeeding from the Union in 1860/61. I am certain the people back then believed they were
within their right as a Soverign State to do so. I must admit, the argument put forth by the authors is compelling.
It also explores the growth in the scope of the power of the Federal Government since then. The current legal battle between
Arizona and Washington is a continuation of the struggle between State and Federal governments to determine their spheres
of control. I must say, I am predisposed to side with the Sate. We'll see how this all plays out.
