Microphones
Back in 1975, when I was doing CB radio, I aquired a Realistic power mic. Other CB'ers told me how much better my audio was from the stock hand mic. Twenty years, when I started doing CB again, and then became a Ham in 1999, I started collecting microphones. I have studio types and radio types. All of the mics in the pic above are wired for my Yaesu 920. Two years ago I replaced all the caps in the power mics. Some mics are packed away, so no pics. One of the D-104 mics has a Heil HC-5 element in it. If I had to pick only one microphone that give me the best chance of being heard on the radio, there is no doubt which one. Hands down it is the Turner Plus 3, with the amplified D-104 coming in second. The D-104 wins for looks, however. Not the best mics for fidelity, but they cut through static.
